Artist Biography

​

Robinette Johnson is a native of Washington, D.C. now residing in
Albuquerque, New Mexico. She creates abstract paintings in mixed media
through a meditative process. Her unique process of applying her paint
with sea sponges, foam brushes, paint brushes and pencil enlivens the surfaces with a delicate
textured quality and reflective resonance. She enhances them with metallic
and satin paints. Her innate sensitivity to color relationships and her
the juxtaposition of various tones develop a sense of order and harmony.

Not surprisingly, the artist was a lyricist, singer and musician before becoming a
visual artist. She juxtaposes geometric forms to create either a
delineated composition or allow them to flow into each other. Her creative
process offers versatility and originality like a well-composed musical
score.
